Founded by Tom Nicolson in the historical city of Oxford, making it the first, legal gin distillery in the 'city of dreaming spires'!
Physic Gin is the very first gin ever made for the University of Oxford, produced by Oxford's first craft distillery, The Oxford Artisan Distillery (aka TOAD)! Founded in 1621 as a physicke (physic) garden for the teaching of herbal medicine, Oxford Botanic Garden was planted during the 1640s, with a catalogue kept of all the plants grown.
TOAD is the only distillery in the entire world to be allowed access to both the garden and the catalogue. It's from this that the inspiration for Physic Gin's 25 botanicals are taken, with wormwood, rue and sweet woodruff among them.
Rich, aromatic and earthy, with a hint of bitterness alongside warming cinnamon, nutmeg and chilli spice, a hint of floral sweetness with a herbal note appearing before a long and slightly nutty finish.
Juniper, Coriander Seeds, Angelica Root, Lemon Peel, Japanese Bitter Orange Peel, Grapefruit Peel, Key Lime Peel, Mandarin Orange Peel, Calamondin Orange Peel, Angelica Seed, Sweet Almond, Calamus Root, Opium Poppy Seed, Szechuan Pepper, Sweet fennel seed, Liquorice root, Wild hops, Camomile flower, Rue, Asian wormwood, Wormwood, Sweet woodruff, Artichoke leaf, Gentian root and Bay leaf.
