The second edition to come from a world-first partnership with the V&A Dundee, The Dalmore 16 Year Old Luminary No. 2 - 2024 Edition is here! Once again bringing together whisky making and architectural design, associate director at Zaha Hadid Architects Melodie Leung was brought in to add her expertise to the project. She created a swirling sculptural presentation case for the 49-year-old The Dalmore Luminary - The Rare - 2024 Edition. For this whisky, the packaging’s design echoes the Rare's form, with plenty of copper colour as a nod to the whisky inside.
The Dalmore 16 Year Old Luminary No. 2 - 2024 Edition will intrigue fans of the distillery because it includes a very small amount of exceptionally rare peated Dalmore spirit. This single malt Scotch whisky was initially matured in American white oak bourbon, before being transferred to Graham’s Tawny Port pipes and Apostoles sherry casks for a secondary maturation. It was bottled at 48.6% ABV, natural colour, and non-chill filtered.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt:
Nose Savoury earthiness, antique furniture, old leather, Jaffa Cake, burnt toast, red grapes, blackberry, fig rolls, and a touch of camphor.
Palate Caramel sauce, oak spice, black tea, marmalade, dates, chocolate raspberry, then green Fruit Pastilles, macadamia nuts, black cherry, liquorice, and an oaky weight reminiscent of a big Cab Franc.
Finish Dundee cake, blackberry, and roasted chestnut.
